Auspicious Brahma Kamal flowers bring luck. Considered lucky in Hinduism as the flower of Lord Brahma, the God of Creation. Obsessed over this exotic Saussurea Obvallata, Ephipyllum Oxypetalum, the orchid cactus ! The years of being close to nature, and excitement in my little space under the sun, the dreams still do continue, grown so many exotic varieties over the years, and have loads of plant luck but not with this one... and yet struggling, trying, hoping to see the flower at least once, have grown more than ten plants, got from different cities and holiday trips , some left us while some are breaking into new stems giving my heart some hope...one day ...to see the magical blooms!
Commonly known as the Brahma Kamal in India, this is a mythical flower of God’s, a spiritual bloom. Not the actual flower that is found in the Himalayas, but a unique one, as the whole blooming process is magical. The plant Brahma Kamal has symbolic value as it is believed that the Lord Brahma, the Hindu God of creation, emerges from this f lower. He is found sitting on the lotus blooms. Lore goes that the plant does not bloom in every home and only the selected few where the universe, Lord Brahma, wishes to bless are lucky to see the flowers on this plant. Then also in Hinduism, people strongly believe that the home where the plant flowers, gets good news and Awesum luck! Also there is a belief that if one is lucky to see the bloom, they are blessed, and get their wishes fulfilled. Well for me its the whole process that fascinates me! The one night bloom after so many years of wait, and then as dawn comes up the bloom perishes. The Brahma Kamal flower is extremely beautiful with a woody , heavenly fragrance as my blog lovers of Garden Care Simplified share. Pouring out my heart and my dreams, Wish fulfilment painting...really after trying a lot of persuasion, over the years of gardening..from my little space under the sun, .coaxing, singing, caring and of course all measures have not given this plant to bloom and a as last resort am painting this with the wish that Lord Brahma, The God of Creation blesses me with Awesum blooms of the Brahma Kamal. Saussure obvallata. So here I have my wish list- lilies, passion flowers, orchids, and of course the majestic with dangling flattened lanky stems ,The Night Blooming Brahma Kamal! My favourite Tibetan Ashtamangala 8 auspicious symbols of Goodluck on my antique maroon colored vases giving out opulent blooms of all that I wish for! In the Tibetan culture symbols are very important and as Buddha himself attained ultimate enlightenment the Buddhism culture promotes these auspicious symbols to bring happiness and good luck.
The symbols of Ashtamangala is a very powerful tool to promote harmony and wealth along with long life and good luck always. The Dhungkar conch- awakening of the being from passive state of ignorance to wisdom ;Bhumpa- the vase of inexhaustible treasures, assures life long wealth; Dug Parasol- the shade of protection from worldly sufferings; Palbheu endless knot- good fortune of complementing every aspect of life in harmony; Gyaltsen Victorious banner- signifies the fortune of victory of good over evil which obstruct the success of goals; Pema lotus-the spiritual flower indicating the purity of mind and deeds free from the dirty mud, just like the blossoming of lotus; Sernya two golden fishes swimming- ability to swim (live) with ease in all worldly and spiritual matters; Choekyi Khoreo Wheel of Dharma- indicates passing the time under the blessing of Buddha's wheel of Dharma which keeps turning unendlessly. From the years of painting cubism and looking at how life unfold beautifully in front trying my luck here, again. Thank You Universe! All floral art and greens go in the east sector as per Feng Shui energy symbolism because the dominating element here is earth and it attracts good health , wealth and abundance in all aspects of life. A exceptionally great Feng Shui wealth painting for south east and a great conversation piece for living rooms! My creativity poured here, added a magical touch, some radium paint highlights,
The blooms glow in dark! so there is magic as the lights go off! Against the stark blackish blue backdrop of the night (keeping in mind their growth pattern, they bloom only at night and are spent at dawn) the blooms glow! used glow in dark paint.
Have an Awesum time from Rizwana!
